Abstract
The Minister, on the basis of subsections 2 (3), 12 (5), 14 (7), 18 (3) and (6), 20 (5) and 22 (9) of the Seed and Plant Propagating Material Act (RT I 1998, 52/53, 771), and taking into account the provisions of the Council Directive 66/403/EEC (OJ L 125, 11.07.66), endorses “Categories of seed potato, and procedures for accreditation of laboratories producing seed potatoes, and packaging, marketing and importation of seed potatoes” (attached). Seed potatoes of varieties listed in Official Variety List but not sufficiently uniform and stable on the basis of the results of registration and value testing (indicated as **) can be marketed on the territory of the Republic of Estonia. Seed potato of varieties bred in Estonia and listed in the Official Variety List not resistant to potato cyst eelworm can be marketed until 2005. The document consists of V Sections. Section I contains the list of categories of seed potato. Section II regards accreditation of laboratories producing propagating material of generations prior to pre-basic seed potato and seed potato, using micro-propagation (meristem) methods. Section III establishes requirements for packaging, sealing and labelling of selling packages, of seed potato. Section IV establishes quality requirements for marketing seed potato. Section V establishes condition for importation of seed potato.
