Abstract
This ministerial regulation establishes requirements applicable to extraction solvents used in the processing of food and food components. The text lays down requirements concerning the composition of extraction solvents, including limits for certain toxic elements, and sets out rules on their placing on the market, including mandatory information to be provided on packaging, containers, labels or accompanying documents.
The regulation also determines permitted extraction solvents, their specific conditions of use, relevant purity criteria, and maximum permissible residue levels in food, as detailed in an annex. It provides exemptions for certain uses and clarifies cases where information may be provided through batch documentation. The regulation includes provisions on entry into force and contains references to the applicable annex listing solvents, uses, residue limits and technical specifications.
