Decision No. 1051 of 1958 concerning the Continental Shelf.

This Decision declares the United Arab Republic shall exercise its sovereign rights over the seabed and its subsoil beyond the territorial waters to the point where the depth of the water is 200 metres and deeper and within the limit within the natural resources of the bottom can be explored. This right extends also the continental shelf of islands of the Republic. The Republic shall have, inter alia, the right to explore, prospect and explore living resources of the seabed and exploration or exploitation by foreigners may be carried out only pursuant to a decision of the President of the Republic.
