Executive Regulation of the Law No.93 of 1962 as amended by Decree No.44 of 2000.

This Decree consisting of 24 articles aims at regulating Law 93 of 1962. It sets details for treated effluent standards and sludge standards for reuse in agriculture. Agencies and the project beneficiaries should comply with the Law during the execution of the project. Safe sludge application as soil fertilizer should be monitored and properly admitted only in compliance with the terms and conditions of this Decree. It provides for (i) regulating requests for sewage services; (ii) inspections to verify compliance with the parameters indicated by Law 93/1962; (iii) sampling methods for analyzing liquid waste; (iv) permits to use treated wastewater for irrigation, in particular it is banned for land allocated for grazing animal producing meat and milk.
