Ministerial Decree No. 2241 of 2003 on the subordination of the Variety Protection Office.

This Resolution is composed of 5 articles. Article 1 provides for the establishment of the Plant Species Protection Office in the central administration of examination and seed adoption of the agricultural services sector as stated in the Ministerial Decree No. 492 of 2003. Competences of this office are to receive requests concerning the protection of new plant varieties, registering them while deciding which of them should be granted the Breeders -Right certificate if they comply with the 4Th Book of Law No. 82 of 2002 (art. 2). Article 3 states that a Permanent Advisory Council is established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation which will follow up the steps of establishment of the Plant Species Protection Office, as well as following-up with the issuance of certificates and licensing issues.
