Abstract
This Resolution is composed of 12 articles. Packages, containers and envelopes used for packaging food and foodstuff are paper and cardboard packages, glass packages, metal packages, plastic packages, porcelain packages, ceramic packages and terracotta packages (art. 1). It shall be prohibited to coat and paint the surfaces that are in contact with the food with ink or colours (art. 2). The maximum residues shall not exceed 0. 2 million for antimony, arsenic and cadmium and not more than 0. 5 million for lead and zink (art. 3). Use of hard or semi-hard packages made from polyvinyl chloride containing 0. 1 million of vinyl chloride monomer is prohibited (art. 4). Butter and ice cream and the like must be isolated from the colours existing on the external surface (art. 6). Packages used for food and foodstuff must be hermitically closed (art. 9). Resolutions No. 679 of 1983 and No. 272 of 1999 are now abrogated (art. 11).
