Abstract
These Regulations prescribe conditions and standards with respect to hygiene and quality in the production, processing, packing and placing on the market of fish products. The Regulations are divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Placing on the market of fishery products (II); Quality control and safety assurance (III); Competent authority (IV); Approval (V); Importation (VI); exportation (VII); Final provisions (VIII). Part II is subdivided into the following chapters: Fishing vessels (1); Requirements during and after landing (2); General conditions for plants on land (3); General conditions for handling fishery products on shore (4); Health control and monitoring of production conditions (5); Packaging (6); Identification marks (7); Storage and transport (8). Competent authorities are; the Fish Inspection and Quality Control Division of the Ministry of Fisheries, the Quality Development Unit, and the Quality Control Unit. Part V concerns the approval of processing plants. Quality control and safety assurance is carried out in accordance with principles laid down in article 24 and a HACCP program as provided for in Regulations No. 41 of 1998. (Completed by 3 Schedules containing model of health certificate (1); laying down microbiological recommended criteria (2); and laying down rules for an organoleptic check (3).
