Abstract
The Policy aims to develop a sustainable aquaculture sector that contributes to economic prosperity, food security, and the wellbeing of aquaculture communities. The Policy focuses on leveraging Eritrea's coastal areas and rich marine biodiversity to drive economic growth and development. The government, through the Ministry of Marine Resources, will pursue capacity building, promote sustainable aquaculture practices, and create an enabling regulatory environment to support the development of the aquaculture industry. The key objectives include promoting the consumption of fish, strengthening management skills to implement national laws and conservation efforts, and ensuring the protection and management of reservoirs and marine resources. The plan also emphasizes the development of markets for Eritrean aquaculture products, processing and marketing of quality products, and promoting cross-border and regional trade.
