Abstract
This Regulation of the Executive Council of the Amhara Regional Government, made under article 18 of the Fisheries Resource Development, Protection and Utilization Determination Proclamation No. 92/2003, provides rules with respect to harvesting, transportation, processing, transportation, storage and sale of fish. It also provides some rules for fish farming and artisanal and recreational fishing. Rules concern, among other things, amount of fish that may be caught, size of fish, fishing gear, right and obligations of a person who has been granted a fishing license to produce fish and of fish merchants. The Regulation also prohibits activities that may affect water bodies and potentially cause harm to fish resources.
Any person who is a regular resident in any Kebele adjacent to any water body in which fishing is taking place may apply for a (commercial) fishing license with the responsible Woreda Agriculture and Rural Development Head Office. The license shall not be transferable and the license holder must report monthly to the Office on fishing activities.
