Abstract
This Proclamation establishes the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange as a wholly state-owned market institution having its own legal personality. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shall be the supervising authority of the Exchange. The Exchange shall be an efficient, transparent, and orderly marketing system for the trading in agricultural commodities that serves the needs of buyers, sellers, and intermediaries, and that promotes increased market participation of Ethiopian small scale producers. The Exchange shall develop and maintain approved grades and standards for the purposes of trading on the Exchange. The Proclamation provides rules for trading and makes provision for a dispute resolution mechanism.

This Proclamation shall come into force on 4 September 2007.
Notes
No Law, Regulation, directive or practice shall, in so far as it is inconsistent with this Proclamation, be applicable with respect to matters covered under this Proclamation.
