Abstract
The document outlines Ethiopia’s 2026–2030 national commitments to reduce all forms of malnutrition in alignment with the Food and Nutrition Strategy (2021–2030), the Seqota Declaration roadmap, the Africa Union goals and the World Health Assembly (WHA) Global Nutrition Targets. It presents revised and new political and financial commitments for the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Paris 2025 Summit. The Strategy reviews progress on the N4G Japan 2021 commitments, reporting stagnation in stunting reduction, off‑track performance in wasting and women’s overweight, and on‑track progress for anemia, low birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding. It attributes mixed results to health emergencies, conflict, climate‑related shocks, food insecurity and system‑level constraints. The renewed political commitments include long‑term targets to substantially reduce stunting, wasting, anemia in women of reproductive age, and low birth weight, while significantly increasing exclusive breastfeeding and preventing any rise in childhood overweight and obesity. The new commitments focus on expanding food fortification, improving child diet diversity, strengthening women’s dietary quality and micronutrient status, and enhancing governance and accountability mechanisms. The document also sets financial goals, and establishing systems for nutrition budget tagging, tracking and coordination.
