Abstract
No person may manufacture, import, sell or use a pesticide not registered in accordance with this Special Decree. Notwithstanding registration, a pesticide may not be imported, stored, transported or offered for sale where not packed or labeled as provided in this Special Decree and directives issued hereunder. Application for the registration of a pesticide shall be made by the manufacture or by the importer in the form prescribed by the Minister. The Minister may, subject to such conditions as he thinks fit to impose, authorize registration upon satisfaction that the application complies with certain specified requirements. The Ministry shall keep a List of Registered Pesticides and issue a certificate of registration. Any package shall be designed and made in such a way that it contains the pesticide safely during transportation, storage, marketing, distribution and, use, including reuse where applicable, and in accordance with relevant standards set by the Ethiopian Standards Authority. Pesticides shall be labeled, transported and stored in accordance with provisions of this Decree. A Pesticide Advisory Committee is established. Inspectors may be appointed by the Minister.
