Abstract
This Proclamation provides for the registration, manufacture, handling, packaging and labelling, use and placing on the market of pesticides. It also concerns pesticides subject to the Prior Informed Consent Procedure under the Rotterdam Convention. The Proclamation establishes a Pesticides Advisory Board.
Only pesticides tested under field and laboratory conditions and approved by the Ministry shall be registered and no pesticide that is not registered shall be formulated, manufactured, traded, etc. Decisions on registration shall be taken by the Ministry of agriculture and Rural Development. The Ministry shall maintain a Pesticide Register. It shall collaborate with the relevant authorities to establish maximum residue limits for agricultural products. Pesticide residue analysis on primary agricultural products shall be carried out by the Ministry.
