Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Establishment Proclamation No. 173/1979.

An autonomous public authority is established to co-ordinate relief activities and distribute relief aid, for the rehabilitation of people that are affected by disaster, to prevent future disasters, and to organize settlers in settlement areas. ”Disaster” here means flood, drought, earthquake, etc. Powers and duties of the Commission are set out in section 8, whereas special powers are defined in section 9. The Commission shall have a Council the powers of which are set out in section 13 and a Commissioner and two Deputy Commissioners.
