The Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability Towards a Toxic-Free Environment is a regional policy concerning the Member States of European Union. The overall purpose of this Strategy is to provide safe and sustainable chemicals by increasing investment and innovative capacity of the chemicals industry, in order to offer new solutions and support both the green and the digital transitions of the economy and society, as well as, to protect the environment and human health. The existing legal and policy frameworks on chemicals will be strengthened to respond more rapidly and effectively to the challenges posed by hazardous chemicals. Moreover, the EU will ensure full enforcement of its rules on chemicals both internally and at its borders, and promote them as a gold standard worldwide, in line with the international commitments.
