Commission Decision 2004/204/EC laying down detailed arrangements for the operation of the registers for recording information on genetic modifications in GMOs, provided for in Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The present Decision lays down detailed arrangements regarding the operation of the registers to be established by the Commission in accordance with article 31(2) of Directive 2001/18/EC for the purpose of recording information on genetic modifications in genetically modified organisms. In particular, the information specified in article 3 shall be recorded in the registers. The registers must be made available to the public. For this purpose, the information shall be divided as follows: (a) a set of data accessible to the public; (b) a set of data covering additional confidential data, which shall be accessible exclusively to the Member States, the Commission and the European Food Safety Authority.
