Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/118 establishing fisheries conservation measures for the protection of the marine environment in the North Sea.

Article 6 of Directive 92/43/EEC requires Member States to establish the necessary conservation measures for Special Areas of Conservation that correspond to the ecological requirements of natural habitat types and species present on the sites. Therefore this Regulation establishes fisheries conservation measures applicable to fishing vessels in the North Sea. It shall be prohibited to carry out any fishing activity with bottom contacting gears in Areas 1, as specified in the Annex.
