Abstract
Regulation (EU) No. 1380/2013 aims to progressively eliminate discards in all Union fisheries through the introduction of a landing obligation for catches of species subject to catch limits. Pursuant to those provisions, this Regulation sets out a discard plan for certain demersal fisheries in North-Western waters for the period 2019-2021. More specifically, in ICES Subareas 5, 6 and 7, the landing obligation provided for in article 15(1) of Regulation (EU) No. 1380/2013 shall apply to demersal species in accordance with this Regulation for the period 2019-2021. Exemptions are laid down for Norway lobster, skates, rays, common sole, plaice, and for species caught in pots, traps and creels. The Regulation further lays down specific technical measures applicable to the Celtic Sea Protection Zone and to the Irish Sea.
