Directive (EU) 2024/1785 amending Directive 2010/75/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on industrial emissions (integrated pollution prevention and control) and Council Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste.

This Directive amends the title of the Directive 2010/75/EU as "Directive 2010/75/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 November 2010 on industrial and livestock rearing emissions (integrated pollution prevention and control)." It makes amendments in the principle Directive regarding: (I) resource efficiency and circular economy and decarbonization; (II) high level of protection of human health and the environment; (III) measures to be taken in the event of any incident or accident significantly affecting human health or the environment; (IV) environmental management system; (V) emission limit values for polluting substances; (VI) assessing compliance under normal operating conditions with emission limit values set out in the permit with regard to emissions to air and water; (VII) environmental quality standards; (VIII) establishment of innovation centre for industrial transformation and emissions; (IX) transformation towards a clean, circular and climate-neutral industry; and (X) penalties applicable to infringements of national provisions adopted pursuant to this Directive and compensation for the damage to human health as a result of an infringement. This Directive inserts special provisions for rearing poultry and pigs after Article 70 of the principle Directive.
This Directive deletes paragraph 2 regarding the technical characteristics of landfills of Article 1 of Directive 1999/31/EC.
