Abstract
This Directive lays down common rules strengthening the provisions related to the repair of goods, with a view to contributing to the proper functioning of the internal market, while providing for a high level of consumer and environmental protection and more sustainable consumption. It shall apply to the repair of goods purchased by consumers in the event of a defect of the goods that occurs or becomes apparent outside the liability of the seller. This Directive compels Member States to ensure that upon the consumer’s request, the manufacturer shall repair goods for which repairability requirements are provided for by Union legal acts listed in Annex II.
