Abstract
This policy sets out wide-ranging efforts of the EU to support and facilitate the necessary measures of the Member States to meet their targets, and the enforcement action being taken to help ensure that the common objective of clean air for all Europeans is achieved and maintained across the EU. The overall aim is to reduce air pollution to levels which minimize harmful effects on human health and the environment over the EU territory. Three main pillars of EU policy efforts are: (I) ambient air quality standards, (II) national emission reduction targets, and (III) emissions standards for key sources of pollution. Moreover, this policy lays down agronomic, livestock and energy measures to reduce emissions from the agricultural sector.
