Abstract
By virtue of this Protocol the European Union and the Republic of Seychelles set out the fishing opportunities granted under article 5 of their Fisheries Partnership Agreement. These fishing opportunities cover 40 tuna purse seine vessels and 6 surface longliners. Vessels flying the flag of a Member State of the European Union may engage in fishing activities in fishing areas within the Seychelles' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) only if they are in possession of a fishing authorization or licence issued under this Protocol. The Annex to the Protocol sets forth the conditions for the pursuit of fishing activities by Euroepan Union vessels in Seychelles s waters. These conditions encompass application and issue of fishing authorizations, catch communications, landing, transshipment and provisions on the vessel monitoring system.
