Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the agreement between the European Economic Community and the Democratic Republic of Madagascar on fishing off Madagascar for the period from 21 May 2001 to 20 May 2004.

This Protocol lays down the conditions governing fishing by Community vessels in Madagascar’s fishing zone. Such conditions are contained in the Annex attached, which is structured as follows: (1) Application for and issued of licences; (2) Validity of licences and payment of fees; (3) Statement of catch and statement of fees; (4) Communications; (5) Observers; (6) Employment of seamen; (7) Fishing zones; (8) Use of port facilities; (9) Inspection and monitoring of fishing activities; (10) Transhipment; (11) Provision of services; (12) Procedure in case of boarding; (13) Embarkation of observers. In particular, Community vessels shall have access to all waters under Madagascar’s jurisdiction outside the coastal zone of twelve nautical miles.
