Abstract
This Regulation establishes a programme for the period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2027, in order to improve the functioning of the internal market in the areas of plants, animals, food and feed. The objectives of this Programme are: (I) making the internal market more effective in the light of the digital transformation, (II) taking measures to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and achieving additionality at Union level, (III) ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market through standardization processes, promoting the interests of consumers and ensuring a high level of consumer protection and product safety, (IV) contributing to a high level of health and safety for humans, animals and plants in plant, animal, food and feed areas, and (V) developing, producing, disseminating and communicating high-quality European statistics. This Regulation also lays down the eligible actions for implementing those objectives, the budget for the period 2021 to 2027, the forms of Union funding and the rules for providing such funding, and the system of governance of the Programme.
