Abstract
This Regulation establishes the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived for the period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2020. It determines the scope of its support, the financial resources available and their allocation for each Member State. The Fund aims at the promotion of social cohesion and inclusion, and therefore the eradicaton of poverty in the European Union. The Fund shall support national schemes whereby food and basic material assistance are distributed to the most deprived persons through partner organizations selected by Member States. These provisions respect fundamental rights and observe the principles recognized in particular by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, including respect for human dignity and for private and family life, the rights of the child, the rights of the elderly and equality between men and women.
