Act to amend the Water Act (No. 653 of 1993).

The amendments to the principal Act concern varied matters such as the application sphere of the Act, conditions for the construction of waterworks, use of water power, water channels, timber floating, drainage, water level regulation, diversion of water for use in liquid form and the abstraction of groundwater, water pollution and waste water, penal provisions, and various miscellaneous matters. The general provisions contained in Chapter 1 are amended with respect to the applicability of provisions of section 19 of the same Chapter not only to rivers but also to the river bed and the river basin and the application for licences with the local Environment Offices for all matters which do not fall within the competence of the Water Court. Section 22 of Chapter 9 relates to the use of water provides for rights of holders of licences in accordance with this Chapter in periods of crisis of interruption of water supply to secure essential water supply.
