Abstract
The present Act lays down rules on the powers of consumer protection authorities. The Competition and Consumer Authority shall be the central contact point in accordance with Article 5 of Regulation (EU) 2017/2394 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The Consumer Ombudsman shall be the competent authority under Regulation (EU) 2017/2394, in addition to the authorities listed in Article 2. The Act regulates the right of competent authorities to obtain, free of charge, from a trader subject to supervisory measures, the information necessary to investigate a matter covered by the scope of Regulation (EU) 2017/2394, as well as the right to conduct inspections. It also lays down rules on administrative proceedings and offences and penalties.
