Abstract
The present Act lays down rules on the Consumer Dispute Board, an independent and impartial legal protection body that handles consumer disputes. The Board is tasked with providing recommendations on how individual disputes should be resolved in different cases, including in cases concerning agreements between traders and consumers regarding consumer goods or other matters related to the acquisition of consumer goods, when the cases are brought to the Board by consumers. The Board can handle a case within its jurisdiction as a group complaint if several consumers or several individual guarantors or pledgers have or are assumed to have claims against the same trader that can be decided by a single decision of the Board. A group complaint is initiated by the Consumer Ombudsman. The Act defines the Board's composition, handling of disputes, and other matters.
