Act on cooperation areas for environmental and health protection (No. 410 of 2009).

The present Act governs the organization of environmental health tasks in accordance with the acts listed in Section 21(2) of the Health Care Act (1326/2010). It applies to municipalities and municipalities working together to fulfill their responsibilities under the Health Care Act to protect the health of individuals and the environment. The aim of the Act is to protect public health and the environment by addressing environmental health hazards. The municipalities shall make a decision to join a cooperation area by December 31, 2009. It is not required to join a cooperation area if the municipality has personnel resources equivalent to at least 10 person-years to take care of environmental and health protection.
