Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to maintain good health of forests and combat forest damage. The act divides the country into regions A, B, and C, based on the occurrence of forest pest insects and the temperature sum. It lays down specific forestry protection measures for each region. The Act contains rules on transportation of timber from logging sites and stacking areas; alternatives to timber removal; storage of timber in terminal warehouses and factory warehouses; control of root rot; control of extensive forest damage; special provision regarding the aerial application of biological plant protection products; etc. The Finnish Forest Centre shall draft a supervision plan for the control of forest damage according to this Act.
