Act on mandatory storage of imported fuels (No. 1070 of 1994).

The present Act lays down rules on mandatory imported fuel storage, in order to secure the country's readiness in terms of fuel supply. Mandatory storage refers to the necessary reserves that the obligated storer must maintain at their own expense according to this Act. Oil products and raw materials used in oil refining are also stored under this Act to fulfill Finland's international treaty obligations regarding energy supply crisis preparedness. The storage obligation applies to: 1. Coal, excluding anthracite, as well as coal briquettes and similar solid fuels; 2. Crude oil and other raw materials used in oil refining; 3. Oil products such as diesel oil, light fuel oil, heavy fuel oil, motor gasoline for internal combustion engines, aviation gasoline, and aviation kerosene, and; 4. Natural gas. The Supply Security Agency (Försörjningsberedskapscentralen) shall oversee the implementation of this Act and annually determine the storage quantities covered by the storage obligation, as well as supervise the mandatory storage and its use.
