Act No. 64 of 1986 relative to municipal environment administration.

This Act applies to municipal environment administration. In addition, tasks and management at the municipal level are regulated by other legislation relating to environment protection (sect. 1). Municipal environment protection shall be guided and supervised by County Councils, which shall be subordinated in this field to the Ministry of Environment. Section 4 defines in general the task of the municipal councils regarding a safe and healthy environment. There are established in each municipality Environment Protection Committees (sect. 5). Tasks of these committees are set out in general in section 6. Subsequent sections define some aspects of working procedures of the Committees, such as coordination with other bodies in the field of planning, and rendering public of information.
