Abstract
The present Act contains provisions on state forestry companies. It provides for transfer of business operations of the state-owned company Metsähallitus to a limited company currently being formed. Once the limited company is established, Metsähallitus shall subscribe to all shares on behalf of the state and take the necessary steps for the registration of the company. The company's scope of operations includes forestry with exclusive rights to state-owned land and timber delivery to customers. When the company engages in forestry, it shall ensure that the general societal obligations referred to in Section 6 of the Forestry Board Act (234/2016) and other societal obligations referred to in Section 7 of that Act are fulfilled. The Act contains specific rules on the Government's transfer authorization, conditions for the transfer, liability for obligation, and others.
