Abstract
The aim of the present Decision, of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is to establish requirements for the periodic inspection of underground oil tanks in Finland to ensure their integrity, prevent leaks, and protect the environment from potential oil spills. It applies to underground oil tanks located in areas designated as important groundwater areas in municipal plans for oil spill prevention. The Decision contains rules on inspection frequency, inspection procedure, inspection report, record-keeping and enforcement. The tanks are are classified into different types based on their condition.
