Abstract
The purpose of this Decree is to protect experimental animals from all avoidable pain, suffering, and permanent harm. The regulation applies to experimental activities with vertebrate animals. The Decree contains the 21 sections divided into the following chapters: 1. General provisions; 2. Animal experiment facility; 3. Lists, statistics and control records; 4. Animal holding place; 5. Experimental animals; 6. Animal testing and its execution; 7. Other provisions. It also contains the following annexes: Annex 1 - Figures on animal experiments performed at institutions and the animals used for them; Annex 2 - Animal species-specific requirements for holding places; Annex 3 - Methods of killing experimental animals.
