Abstract
The present Decree, of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, applies to processing aids and their use in the production of a food or food ingredient. Processing aids are substances that: i) are not consumed as actual food; ii) are intentionally used for a specific technological purpose during the treatment or processing of raw materials, food, or components of such; iii) may remain in the final product in their original form or as derivatives, unintentionally, due to technical inevitability, provided they do not pose a health hazard and do not have a technological effect on the final product. The Decree contains detailed rules on properties and use of processing aids, requirements for extraction solvents, packaging labels for extraction solvents, and permission to use extraction solvents.
