Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on the provision of food information to consumers (No. 834 of 2014)

The present Decree, of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, contains provisions on the labeling of prepackaged and not prepackaged foods and on food information otherwise provided to the end consumer in connection with sales or other transfers, to the extent that other legislation does not contain provisions on these. It applies to all foods intended for end consumers, including foods supplied by catering establishments, as well as foods intended for catering establishments unless otherwise specified. It also applies to beverages with an alcohol content of more than 1.2 percent by volume to the extent that other legislation does not contain provisions on the provision of mandatory information. This Decree applies to food business operators at all stages of the food chain where their activities concern the provision of food information to consumers. The provisions of Article 8 of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 apply to the responsibility for providing food information. The Decree included provisions on information about the presence of allergens or substances causing intolerances in non-prepackaged foods.
