Abstract
The Decree provides for the salmonella testing to be performed in slaughterhouses and cutting plants and based on the national salmonella control program approved by Commission Decision 94/968/EC. It also provides for the coordination of the criteria for salmonella tests in the national salmonella control program and in accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs. It shall apply to slaughterhouses and cutting plants handling meat of bovine animals, swine, broilers, turkeys, chickens, ducks, geese or guinea fowl and at premises producing minced meat or meat preparations, meat of broilers, turkeys or chickens. Food sampling and testing shall be carroed out under the responsibility of a food operator in accordance with rules set out in the First Schedule to this Decree. The Decree also provides with respect to measures that shall be taken (in accordance with Article 7 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005) if salmonella is found in food or a facility.
