Abstract
This Decree defines the conditions under which meat and processed meat may be imported into Finland from countries outside the European Community (third countries). It does not apply to import consignments of meat and processed meat imported from Andorra, Faeroe Islands, Liechtenstein and Norway to which the Decree on consignments at the first destination applies (118/2006). The purpose of this Decree is to ensure the food hygiene quality of import consignments of meat and processed meat products intended for human consumption and to prevent certain animal diseases spreading to Finland. The Decree shall be supplementary to specified national and Community legislation (art. 3).
The Decree, among other things: specifies import general conditions; specifies import conditions for specific kinds of meat (read meat, rabbit meat, poultry meat, pork, etc.); provides for testing on salmonella; and provides for import conditions for edible parts of an animal that cannot be classified as meat, including gelatine.
