Abstract
The present Decree implements various Directives of the Council of the European Union. The scope of the present Decree is to control the quality and hygiene of meat and meat products from countries other than member countries of the European Union and to prevent the spreading of animal diseases in Finland. Sections 1 to 8, which form part of the general provisions, define certain terms used in the Decree and list various kinds of imports, which are not included in the Decree. Section 9 formulates general conditions of import for meat and meat products from third countries other than Liechtenstein or Norway, whereas section 10 places restrictions on import. Red meat may be imported from countries listed in Annex 1, whereas poultry meat may be imported from countries listed in Annex 4. Section 13 makes provision for the control of salmonella in meat. Other sections formulate certain requirements in respect of various meat products and meat preparations. (27 sections completed by 9 Annexes)
