Government Decree on the protection of sheep (No. 587 of 2010).

The present Government Decree contains provisions on animal welfare in sheep husbandry. It contains detailed rules on general requirements for keeping space; tools and equipment; conditions in the animal stable; paddocks and pastures; monitoring of well-being; tethering of sheep; watering and feeding; lambing; milking; shearing; etc. During inspections of sheep health and well-being, special attention should be paid to heavily pregnant ewes, ewes lambing, and sheep that have been sheared or exposed to major changes in their care conditions. Sheep should be inspected individually if necessary based on a general inspection.
