Abstract
The present Decree lays down provisions on the examination of cattle for EHEC in slaughterhouses; examination of EHEC in animal husbandry sites when EHEC bacteria have been detected in those sites; and examination at a livestock holding place of EHEC in cattle which is suspected to have been in contact with EHEC-infected persons.
Slaughterhouses shall, in accordance with the self-monitoring plan referred to in Section 20 of the Food Act, include sampling for EHEC bacteria in bovine stool in accordance with Annex 1. It shall send the samples for analysis to a laboratory as referred to in section 39 (2) of the Food Act. The Decree further lays down provisions on the duties of the Finnish Food Authority; on the duties of the official veterinarian; data collection; etc.
