Abstract
This decree contains provisions regarding the utilization of the funding annually allocated for climate policy within the land use sector under budget item 30.40.22 (Promotion of natural resources and bioeconomy) in the state budget. The land-use sector refers to the land use categories according to the sector of land use, land-use change, and forestry used in the national greenhouse gas inventory system: forest land, cropland, grassland, wetlands, built-up land, and other land. The purpose of the measures is to support Finland's goal of climate neutrality by 2035. Through the funding, the following goals are promoted in a comprehensive and sustainable manner: 1. Preserve and strengthen carbon sinks and stocks in the short and long term; 2. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions; 3. Promote adaptation of agriculture and forestry to climate change; and 4. Produce information to support climate measures and promote the use of this information. Article 6 specifies the types of measures that can receive state funding.
