Abstract
The present Act applies to the import, export, transmission, distribution, delivery, and storage of natural gas and liquefied natural gas. It's purpose is to ensure the conditions for the national and regional natural gas market and the European Union's internal natural gas market to function effectively, securely, and environmentally sustainably, so that a good supply security of natural gas at a competitive price and with sufficiently good quality can be guaranteed. The main methods to achieve a functioning natural gas market are to secure sound and functioning economic competition in the supply and storage of natural gas, and to maintain reasonable and equal principles for services within the natural gas networks and liquefied natural gas treatment facilities. Natural gas companies are tasked with providing services related to customers' natural gas procurement and promoting efficient and economical use of natural gas both in their own and in customers' operations. The provisions regarding natural gas in this Act apply also to gas from renewable energy sources.
The Act contains 104 articles organized in the following sections: I. General provisions; II. Natural gas grid; III. Supply of natural gas; IV. Processing facilities for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and storage facilities for natural gas; V. Obligations for actors in the natural gas market; VI. Natural gas agreements; VII. Supervision and sanctions; VII. Special provisions.
