The 18 sections of this Act are divided into 4 Parts: Preliminary (I); Protected birds (II); Game (III); General (IV).
Any person who wilfully kills, wounds or takes any protected bird or exposes for sale or has in his possession any protected bird, or exports or attempts to export any protected bird or damages any nest or egg, shall be guilty of an offence (sect. 3). No game shall be killed or wounded without a licence (sect. 6). No person shall, save with permission in writing of the Minister, during the close season for any particular kind of game, wound or take game of that kind or purchase game of that kind or expose or offer for sale game of that kind (sec.7). Licences to kill or take game shall be in force for one year only and may be issued in the form contained in the Fourth Schedule by a licensing officer. The number of game to be killed in one day may be restricted by the Minister (sect. 9). The Minister may define an area or areas ("reserved areas") in which hunting is restricted or altogether prohibited. The Act is completed by 4 Schedules.
