Abstract
The Minister may from time to time, by Order, designate any area comprising: (a) area within the territorial limits of Fiji and; (b) areas of superjacent waters of the Continental Shelf, as being an area to which the provisions of this Act apply (sect. 3(2)). All rights exerciseable with respect to the Continental Shelf appertaining to Fiji and its natural resources are vested in the Crown (sect. 3[1]). Other provisions of section 3 deal also with the taking of sedentary species, shellfish and sponges. Titles of other sections include: Application of laws (4); Application of customs laws (5); Safety Zones for protection of installations in designed areas (6); Safety of Navigation (7); Enforcement (8); Discharge of oil (9); Regulations (10); Prosecution of offences (11).
