Abstract
This document provides guidance for considering sustainable solutions to prevent and minimize the drivers of displacement on the affected communities in relation to climate change and disaster-associated events occurring in Fiji, and to address and reduce their vulnerabilities associated with displacement. The purpose of this document is to (I) provide complementary support to the existing Fijian policies when addressing the movement of people caused by climate change and disasters, (II) recognise the multiple categories of population that may be displaced, (III) enhance the participation of all relevant stakeholders involved in the displacement process, (IV) promote institutional frameworks at the local, national and regional levels to build up resilience of the communities tackling climate change and disasters, (V) respect the human rights of communities, households and individuals, and (VI) serve as a policy framework to better protect and assist displaced people.
