Abstract
The purpose of this regulation is to prevent pollution of the environment by controlling the discharge of solid and liquid wastes from facilities, the emission of polluting gases, smoke, steam and dust, the handling, storage and disposal of wastes and hazardous substances generally.
Any facility discharging any waste or pollutant will be required to hold a permit under Part 11, rule 46, of this regulation. The Schedule in the regulation prescribes forms in relation to waste disposal and waste recycling permits generally. It also sets out National Liquid Waste Standards (Schedule 3) and National Air Quality Standards (Schedule 5) applicable to facilities and criteria for significant disposers and dischargers. These Schedules can be amended by the Director by Order. Schedules Fees can only be amended by the Minister.
