Abstract
The Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Policy is a national policy with a multi-sectoral approach, covering the period from 2021 to 2024. The purposes of this policy are to: (I) formalize the Ministry of Economy’s existing commitment to gender equity and social inclusion in line with international and national obligations of the Government, (II) adopt a whole-of-Ministry approach to achieving Gender Equity and Social Inclusion ("GESI") results, (III) strengthen the Ministry of Economy’s responsiveness to GESI barriers, both internal and external to the Ministry, (IV) enhance the knowledge, capacity and commitment of the Ministry of Economy's staff and implementing partners to identify, address and monitor equity and inclusion factors in carrying out their work, and (V) comply with the Green Climate Fund accreditation and other climate financing agency requirements and consistently apply international GESI best practice standards across all the Ministry of Economy’s administered projects.
GESI analysis, intervention and performance measures will be progressively mainstreamed in economic, fiscal and sector plans and budgets, in order to enable improved outcomes for vulnerable and marginalized groups. The awareness and responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable groups and improved access for people with disabilities will be increased by integrating GESI across all systems and work processes of the Ministry of Economy. The projects of the Ministry of Economy will be carried out with a gender-sensitive and responsive approaches. GESI partnerships will be strengthened to address systemic barriers to equity and inclusion and promote meaningful engagement of women and people with disabilities in policy-making, development planning and budgeting.
