Abstract
The iTaukei Land Trust (Amendment) Act amends the
iTaukei Land Trust Act 1940 whereby the definition of ‘Secretary’ is amended by deleting ‘section 30’ and substituting ‘section 30B’.
A new section 30 is inserted and titled as ‘Appointment of Chief Executive Officer’ whereby the Board can appoint a suitable qualified person for the CEO position and the person will be responsible to the Board for the proper administration and management of the functions and the affairs of the Board and the implementation of the instructions and the policies of the Board made pursuant to the Act.
Under section 30B stipulates that the Board may appoint a secretary and such managers, officers, consultants and agents as it considers necessary for the efficient exercise of its powers, and the performance and discharge of its functions and duties under this Act. Any person appointed under this section shall be paid such remuneration as determined by the Board.
Further, the Higher Salaries Act 2011 is amended in the Schedule by inserting a new paragraph under section 43 as ‘iTaukei Land Trust Board’.
